Hi, I’m Sam. I recently graduated architecture school, but I’m no architect. I like to tell stories. I like to create experiences. And I love writing witty sentences.
I found my first crayon when I was about a year old and I haven’t stopped making stuff since. I eventually moved on to bigger (but by no means better) things, discovering Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, AutoCAD, and more – it was all love at first sight. I’m an easy-going guy known for my great sense of humour, intense work ethic, and my occasional foul mouth.
Now, I’m telling stories through data visualization – making art out of information. This involves creating and designing maps, building user experiences and telling stories, and collecting and analyzing raw data and information. I graduated from Parsons School of Design in NYC in May with an MS in Data Visualization and am currently unemployed. I would love to work for you.
Previously, I lived and worked in London, England (thee ol’ enemy) for a creative agency called Cherry and then studied in Rome before finishing my Bachelors of Architecture at the University of Waterloo. It was fun traveling the world, but my mum would kill me if I didn’t still go home to Vancouver for the holidays.
I also do freelance projects and competition entries, so feel free to get in touch with any ideas. In whatever spare time I can find I’m an amateur rocket ship builder, box lacrosse player, volunteer wassailer, and I dabble in the occasional lion-taming (but that’s a story for another time).
It’s nice to finally meet you.
